Secret Solace

Everyone's story is worth telling. That's what is portrayed in the movie "Freedom Writers". A movie that taught me the concept of "Cathartic writing". It's based on a true story. I like Ms Erin Gruwell for her unwavering commitment to the students of her class. I saw this movie many years back and it stayed with me. My connection with this movie is like one of those many of my connections that doesn't fade away with time. She believes that she can bring a change. She is deeply invested in her students' well being. Every small thing she did took her students' forward on their journey to accepting each other and hope for the good in dark times. She fought the system to give them true education, not the bookish education. She encouraged them to write their stories in their own diaries. Because she felt their story is worth writing. She also told them their stories won't be graded. How can she grade them for writing the truth. As the students...

August brings heavier rains, stronger winds and cold mornings. And there are days of stormy days, raging winds and continuous rainfall. But we do start getting a few days of sunlight which had been missing in the last two months. It never stays for long, but those small pockets of golden light feel precious after nearly two months of living under clouds. Here you can't say which part of the day is going to be cold. Today it's a cold morning, tomorrow might bring a cold afternoon, and the day after a cold evening. This happens in any month. But August has many cold days with rains. August has a personality of its own. August is the time when the city starts to feel like itself again. When I had shifted here it took me almost two years to understand the weather patterns. And the surprising thing is that the weather doesn't stick to a predictable pattern. It keeps changing.  I love the August rains. Can't get enough of this windy cold weather. Had missed it over the summer...
